Building Bridges of Hope Fifth Anniversary Gala
October 27, 2015
Metropolitan Room at the Newark Club
In the five years since opening, over 5,000 victims of domestic violence made nearly 13,000 visits to Essex County Family Justice Center. To celebrate this milestone and our community’s commitment to improve the response to domestic violence, Essex County Family Justice Center hosted the Building Bridges of Hope Fifth Anniversary Gala.
During the program, special recognition was given to two individuals and one company for their dedication to protecting and supporting victims of domestic violence. Verizon was presented with the Corporate Social Leader Award for their sector-leading philanthropic support of domestic violence programs across the country; Acting Essex County Prosecutor Carolyn A. Murray was presented with the Spirit of Justice Award for her dedication to extending the protection of law to domestic violence victims; and Shavar Jeffries was presented with the Monica Paul Community Champion Award for his role in speaking out against domestic violence and establishing the Donna Johnson Memorial Scholarship Fund to support the educational aspiration of children who have survived domestic violence in their family.
The evening was very successful in raising much needed funds, awareness, and engagement for Essex County Family Justice Center’s mission.
